Born in 1935 in Frankfurt/Main (Hesse), Germany.

 

Studies:

Music in Darmstadt (composition, conducting) and Frankfurt (instrumental).

Musicology in Frankfurt and Tübingen.

Psychology in Tübingen and Hamburg.

Doctoral studies in Pittsburg, PA (at Carnegie-Mellon University with the late Nobel laureate

Prof. Dr. Herbert A. Simon). Main topics: Intelligence and problem solving

 

Now professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Hamburg.

 

Mainly interested in psychology of intelligence and problem solving, and particularly in cognition of

composing and improvising. Musicologically interested in the domain of Mozart fragments, mainly

with the goal of completing fragments in order to investigate the creative processes of composing.
